~ Incense ~

incense

"incense perfume diffused by the burning of aromatic gums or spices. Incense was used in ancient Egypt,Greece, and Rome and is mentioned in the Old and the New Testaments. It is also found in the major religions of Asia. The Babylonians used it while praying in the 6th and 5th cent. BC and the Greeks used it as protection against demons during the 8th cent. BC The earliest clear record of its use in public worship in the Roman Catholic Church is c.500."

In many cultures, incense is burned during prayer and/or meditation. it is thought that as prayers are said, your intentions rise up along with the smoke of the incense.
I recently bought 4 new packs of "Dragon's Eye" incense:
"Peacefil Dreams, "Essence of Spirit", "Temptation" and "Fire Dance"

This brand of incense gives a nice, smooth burn without being too overpowering, and smells heavenly.
This is good quality incense.

What I am burning now: "Peaceful Dreams"

Blessings :-)

"Historic" Salem, MA

Since my mom watches our little one 5 days a week while we work, I decided to take her along with my 14 month old on a 5 day trip to "Historic" Salem, MA-minus the hubby as he had to work-(Note to self: never go away again without hubby for that long-thought it was a good idea at the time but not when i came back to ehhh....sort of a messy kitchen and baby husband). My goal was to visit all of the historic sites connected to the witchcraft trials of 1692. Not what I expected....and if you plan to go....1) Do not attempt to find the Salem landmarks during the town's "Haunted Happenings "(runs through October) as it is crazy crowded! Could be fun for kids though- 2) Do your research!!! a lot of these sites are hard to find and after hundreds of years are torn down and rebuilt-of course many have not been preserved-there are "markers" where buildings once stood or in the area they used to stand. From what I read, this town would rather forget that part of their history. We did get to see some interesting sites such as the Rebecca Nurse homestead-

(They say her body was retrieved from the Gallows and buried somewhere on the Nurse Property. There is a Memorial Stone also erected by her family here.

I even bought some goodies from the gift shop:
All in all a good trip, but for next time, I hear Colonial Williamsburg is beautiful.....
Blessings :-)
